Why Hire a local Sound Mixer

As a camera person, it’s more pleasurable when you can shoot focusing on that. The sound man or woman can concentrate on the recording & mixing sound. In addition to helping, with lighting or other tasks as a reliable veteran. Hiring a sound person that will alert you on less-than-ideal sound environments on your set or location(s). Working a boom and camera simultaneously is not possible so hire a sound person who can operate a boom & mix other sources.

The only way to mix & record sound in production is the RIGHT WAY on location. This being recording distraction free, clean, audible sound to camera, digital file or other recording device. With or without time code sync.

Remember every noise print cuts into your fidelity of your sound recording, so the right way on location is the best way. Having to de-noise audio in post can work to a degree, but it’s better to have a clean audio recording. So hire an experienced sound man to help.

You can fully concentrate on shooting and leave the monitoring & recording of sound to the audio tech there to help you, and you have an extra pair of helping hands too to decrease time needed from shot to shot. I can help with the sound mixing & recording, as well sets, moving gear and other common production tasks if I am not too busy with multiple audio sources.

I am a great guy when you need someone to sit in. With my assistance, and you will bring home the best sound recording possible when you hire me as your local freelance resource. Managing several audio sources and getting to camera is best relegated to a sound guy like myself whom can free up you as a camera person to concentrate on shot framing, exposure, storytelling, talent direction, and all the other needs of a production as well.

Hiring a sound person with the sound gear is also essential for limiting over modulated sound or reducing ambient noises in recordings is also a benefit. Hiring a freelance audio tech for a day who has done it before, and in my instance, decades.

Some camera people solely rely on sound recordist, especially cinematographers and film crews. Many motion picture cameras, especially 35mm, and 70 formats do not record sound requiring a sound engineer, and often a sound crew.0 DSLR audio is another tricky task so hiring a soundy (audio person) is essential to recording noise free clean audio often as the camera does not have the best audio pre-amps so your sound recording will be limited in input cable, as well signal to noise.

Many cameras require the balanced levels coming from an audio source such as a mixer/recorder and that’s how I can help you with clean, crisp, audible sound to your camera or synced externally recorded. I have cables for about any type of camera from RED, Arri, DSLR, XLR based cameras, and ones with proprietary cables for time code as well audio input.
