What’s a Location / Production Sound Mixer?

A production sound mixer is commonly nicknamed a sound recordist, a term derived in the UK and Europe. They sometimes are called a sound engineer, sound assistant, sound person or operator. They in male gender can be called an audio guy or sound guy, or sound tech or an audio tech.
